APYC reiterates demand, to meet Sonia, Rahul

ITANAGAR, Aug 30: The delegation of Arunachal Pradesh Youth Congress (APYC) are in Delhi to meet AICC president Sonia Ganghi, Rahul Gandhi and V Narayana Swamy beside other senior AICC & IYC leaders to appeal for issuing party ticket to the youth Congress for the forth coming assembly election in the state.

APYC strongly protest the illegitimate and illogical single recommendation of the Pradesh Election Committee for issue of party tickets.

APYC feels that gross injustice has been done to the true Congress aspirant candidates and side lined the youth Congress.

The committee further said that many candidates who were never seen in the Congress party platform were given single recommendations while denying many sitting Congress MLAs.

The APYC team has so far interacted with union minister of state for WRD Vinsent H Pala, union minister Mukul Wasnik general secretary AICC and will meet all AICC leaders.

APYC has further decided not to retreat and stand firm in their demand until the PEC reviews and reconsiders the earlier recommendation list.

The youth Congress also pleaded that PEC members must not be aspirant candidates themselves as this could lead the way for biasness and partiality.

It further demanded that the report of state and central observers be given due importance and the youth Congress must be given party ticket since the youth consist 60 % population of the state.

APYC further demanded that the list of all the youth aspirant candidates be sent to AICC for a justifiable and appropriate decision for issuing of party ticket.

The rank and file of APYC has also condemned the section of vested interest people who have tried to tarnish the image of pride of Arunachal youth Nyamar Karbak, genral secretary of All India Youth Congress.

Rural Entrepreneurship (Poultry) Development Programme organized

ITANAGAR, Aug 30: The Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Papum-Pare organized 3 days on-farm specialized training programme on Poultry (Broiler) farming at Laptap (Sagalee) under the sponsorship of NABARD, Itanagar from August 27 to 29 last.

The programme was the continued part of the series of training programme on poultry and dairy farming which was formally inaugurated by NABARD DGM, and Director, Horticulture at Nirjuli on August 19.

The selected members of 15 farmers club and various SHG formed under the NGO, NNCS, Sagalee participated in the programme. The participants were trained to start broiler farming as an enterprise by taking the aids of various audio visual aids along with distribution of manual for their future reference.

The poultry husbandry and health topics were covered in depth by Dr. T. Heli (Programme Coordinator), Dr. Pranjal Borah (SMS, Animal Science) and Dr. Nabam Gama (Farm Manager) of KVK Papum-Pare.

The trainees were also abreast with the integrated farming system (poultry cum fish culture) by James Nabam, DFDO and Vivekanand Safi, SMS Fishery.

N.D. Neckam, STA, Directorate of Agriculture infused knowledge and demonstrated the skills required by an entrepreneur for smooth running of the business.

The branch manager of APRB, Sagalee N.B. Konwar also spoke about the financial disciplines and thanked the KVK for the initiatives to train farmers to become successful entrepreneur.

The valedictory function was attended by B.R. Acharjee, BDO (Sagalee), P. Tarak, CO (Toru circle) along with other officials.

The BDO impressed upon the need of such specialized training programmes for the success of all developmental activities in agriculture and allied sectors.

CO Toru circle advised the farmers to start poultry farming commercially and attain self sufficiency of poultry production in Sagalee area.

Course Coordinator Dr. Pranjal Borah assured the farmers all the technological support and also thanked NABARD, Itanagar for their financial support.

The gist of Solung Celebration

ITANAGAR, Aug 30: The Solung priest (Rhapsodist) along with Ponung delegates from Mikong Village of East Siang District arrived Itanagar today to performed rituals during Solung festival here at Solung Mopin ground, Itanagar.

The beginning day of the celebration is on august 31 evening called Dogin yume (preparations / arrangement evening), 2nd day is Dorep or Ardo-Bado longe’ (starting or sacrifice day), 3rd day is observed as Binnyat, where rituals relating to Goddess of crops and prosperity Kine-Nane is performed, 4th day is known as Taktor / Ekoph (preparation of bows, arrows and war weapons) where arrows and bows were also fastened above the door of every houses and the last day is called Miri yamlik (‘send-off’ ceremonial to Miri Abu)

In this festival Goddess of crops and food grains Kine-Nane, God of wisdom and knowledge Doying Bote and the god of domestic animals Dadi Bote Gumte-Gamro are worshipped and offered offering in every house and field respectively by one of the family members of the household.

During the festival indoor offering is performed in Agam Pebong (altar) of every house, and outdoor offering are performed in Sopiid, a place or wooden post where domesticated animals especially Mithun were fastened, besides these the ritual offering is also done in agricultural field.

In the evening till morning from Dorep Longe, Ponung is performed where the Rhapsodist recites about origin of human being, creation of universe and other activities of human civilization. Even some of the Rhapsodist foretells future incident and happening during Ponung.

During Gidi Adeng-Ape (festival eve) various sports, entertainment activities and social taboos were also performed and observed.

Meanwhile, Preparation of Pobor, Variety show and Ponung will be held on August 31 at Solung Ground, Itanagar.

Fire accidents

ITANAGAR, Aug 30: Residence of Gollo Tadik along with huge properties including two motor cycles was gutted down in a fire accident at around 1.15 am at Donyi Colony D Sector, Itanagar on August 28 last. However, there were no human causality and the cause of accident is not known.

In another fire accident, two houses were gutted at Bulo village, Segi-Gisar Circle, Upper Subansiri on August 26 last.

Pre-Solung festival celebrated at RGU

ITANAGAR, Aug 30: The Adi Students Union, Rajiv Gandhi University had conducted a pre-Solung festival at RGU’s Auditorium on Saturday where MP Ninong Ering and AAPSU president Takam Tatung attended as chief guest and guests of honour respectively.

Advisor to CM Nanom Jomoh attended as special invitee while 38th Pasighat MLA Bosiram Siram, RGU vice chancellor in-charge A K Mitra were the other dignitaries.

MP Ninong Ering lauded the organizers for continuing the age old tradition by organizing the Solung festival in the highest learning abode of the state.

While responding to a proposal by the AAPSU president Takam Tatung on renovation of RGU’s Auditorium and conversion of RGU into Arunachal RGU, he said that he will look into the matter after studying the provisions of an MP and in due consultation with his colleague MP Takam Sanjoy and the cabinets.

A very good Hindi orator himself, Ering urged the students to speak in Hindi, the national language.

Speaking on the occasion, Tatung elaborated on state’s apex student body initiative in enhancing the student’s stipend to Rs 50 and yearly conduct of Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission examination.

Expressing concern over the Nagaland People’s Forum reported campaigning in Tirap and Changlang, AAPSU president has sought the MP’s intervention into the matter and press the union government to take early preventive measures. He reiterated that those who are engaging in campaigning for the NF will be declared anti Arunachalee.

Also expressing concern over the repeated transfer of teacher in the middle of the academic session, he appealed the state government not to transfer teachers as a political interference.

RGU Vice Chancellor in-charge A K Mitra also spoke on the occasion.

Besides colourful presentation of traditional dances and Ponungs, a mass community feast was also hosted on the occasion.

Craft centre inaugurated

YINGKIONG Aug 29: Upper Siang DC, Pawan Kumar Sain inaugurated a Craft Centre (Weaving) at Geku today. Speaking on the occasion, Sain hoped that this centre will help the people to be self-reliant and self-employed.

He appealed the people to take advantage of such ventures to raise their economic status. The local products should be encouraged and developed so that a market can be created, he said and further appealed all to co-operate.

He assured to create such centres in each administrative circle. He urged the GBs to abstain from politics and impart justice with impartiality.

He called upon the people of the area to live in peace and harmony so that development works can be taken up. Sain also called for maintenance of law and order.

Health and education sector should be given priority, he said and said that the doors are always open for redressal of grievances.

He also appealed to the officers to be sincere and impart their duties with dedication and quality should not be compromised.

He informed that an amount of Rs. 5(Five) Lakhs for Community Hall at Geku (Kumku) and Rs. 6 (Six) Lakhs for Community Hall at Sibum have been approved.

Later, he visited the JNV Geku and interacted with students and teachers. He instructed the students to be more disciplined and to study hard. He urged the teaching community to be sincere and dedicated.

Earlier, Gindu Tayeng, ADTH, while welcoming all informed that the centre has been established here as it is centrally located. He assured that other facilities and improvements will be made. Other trades like tailoring, knitting, carpentry, etc will also be introduced in due course of time.

Programmes postponed

ITANAGAR, Aug 29: Gaon Ki Aur Challo scheduled to be organized under Mengio circle by the block Youth Congress 15-Sagalee Assembly constituency has been postponed.

However, the programme for other circles of Toru, Leporiang and Sagalee will be conducted as per the scheduled fixed.

Raid condemned

ITANAGAR Aug 29: Karko Ao Welfare Association (KAWA) and All Capital Complex Basar Valley Youth Association (ACCBVYA) condemned the surprise raid carried out in the house of Dr. Tajum Basar, Ex-President, KAWA by the SIC on August 27 last.

The associations alleged that the untoward events were initiated by vested interested persons to malign and tarnish the image of Dr. Tajum Basar, DHS.

Dr Basar has rendered selfless and highly commendable services to the people of Arunachal Pradesh for more than three decades, the associations added.

KAWA further requested the authority concerned not to succumb to the pressure exerted by any person who is not concerned with the proceedings.

MLA visited water treatment project

ITANAGAR, Aug 29: Local MLA Omak Apang along with 60 Block Congress Seva Dal volunteers visited water treatment project at Ledum.

The team appreciated the PHE Department, EE Er. Tamuly Takoh, JE Er Moyong and local contractor for maintaining quality of work and their effort for early completion of the work.

Later, the team also attended a meeting where Apang appealed all Seva Dal cadres to work for the betterment of INC in district, state and national level.

Meanwhile, Block Congress Seva Dal, organizing Secretary thanked Apang for his effort to streamline various technological infrastructures in the area.

2 days NERIST book exhibition

NIRJULI Aug 29: A two days book exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. Joram Begi, Director NERIST today in the NERIST Academic block.

Number of leading publishers from Delhi, Kolkata and Guwahati representing Oxford, Pearson Education, PHI, Allied besides others are participating in this book exhibition. This exhibition will remain open till August 30.

Dr. Begi browsed through books very keenly and appreciated the collection that various publishing houses have brought. He lauded the efforts of NERIST Library committee in organizing this Book Exhibition and urged the committee to conduct such exhibitions for longer duration so that other institutions of the capital complex can also benefit from this venture.

This book exhibition is a regular annual feature at NERIST since 1990, informed the Chief Librarian of the NERIST Central Library, Asim Gupta.

NERIST library has more than seventy thousand books and subscribes to several national and international journals, which is quite impressive considering the location remoteness of this institute.

Dr. Joram Begi has been emphasizing on the need to instill reading culture among the students and developing NERIST library as one of the model libraries in the region.

Financial Inclusion Seminar at Tirap

ITANAGAR Aug 29: NABARD in collaboration with District Administration Tirap will hold the first District Level Monitoring Committee Meeting (DLMC) for translating the Micro-Finance Vision of Arunachal Pradesh government on August 31 next.

The Financial Inclusion Seminar for the District has been scheduled on September 1. All the relevant departments of the government and Bankers will participate in the seminar.

The seminar will focus on the strategies to be adopted for bringing the financially excluded people in the Banking fold. Dr. Rangarajan Committee on Financial Inclusion has identified Tirap District as one of the five financially excluded districts in Arunachal.

Solung literary competitions

ITANAGAR, Aug 29: Naharlagun Solung Festival Committee conducted Essay, Drawing and painting competition to befit the Solung celebration recently.

In the open category essay competition Bapir Megu, Jeremiah Modi, Mitin Tayeng won the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize while in the junior essay competition Lujing Pertin, Mitinam Lego and Aini Paron was adjudged as 1st, 2nd and 3rd .

Mitinam Lego, Namum Perme and Lujing Pertin were adjudged as 1st, 2nd, and 3rd winner of the painting competition respectively. The prizes will be distributed to the winners at Naharlagun, Solung festival ground on September 1 next.

The committee thanked Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu, PHE Minister Lombo Tayeng, The Arunachal Times, Editor Dr. Audrey Apang and Echo of Arunachal, Editor Nani Dai and others for their support and encouragement.

Tezu will get 3G phone soon, says GM BSNL

TEZU Aug 29: BSNL Tezu hold an open house session with its esteemed customer under the Chairmanship of GM BSNL U.L Rao, ITS at Tezu Telephone Exchange today.

Rao disclosed that Tezu will soon be under the network of 3G connectivity. He further disclosed that Lohitpur BSNL Mobile tower is ready and will start within 10-15 days.

While responding to customers the GM assured that he will personally supervise about billing and schemes related grievances of customers.

Rao, while talking on Broad Band connectivity speed said good conductors will be provided to those lines having broad band connection and all effort for online billing, bill payment, call details besides others will be functional by March 2010. ITANAGAR: MLA Bosiram Siram and former MLA of Tezu Karikho Kri has wished the citizens on the occasion of Solung. They expressed the hope that Solung would usher in new hope, prosperity, good health, harvest and strengthen the existing age old harmony.

Declare SSA result

ITANAGAR: Kargu Kardi Students’ Union (KKSU) appealed the concerned authority to immediately declare the SSA interview of Liromoba, Tirbin, Darak and Yomcha circle within one week.

It further appealed the authority to select the genuine and competent candidate and threaten to launch movement if their demand were not fulfill within one week.

Grievance against tourism director

Madam,

Kiren Rijiju expressed his obligation to share the agony of thousands of people across Arunachal Pradesh and the unprecedented enormous political palpitation caused due to his resignation from BJP.

Kiren Rijiju is entirely misplaced in his idea of obligation towards the people of Arunachal Pradesh and in tendering his apology after what he has done. First of all, he was supported by people of Arunachal Pradesh from every section cutting across party lines not because he belonged to any particular political party and neither the deep agony caused is because of his joining any particular political party.

It seemed he stood for all those words uttered by himself but alas! those words were just words. People saw in him the beginning of positive change in electoral politics in Arunachal Pradesh. The people looked upto him to lead the way towards a better Arunachal, away from the present scheme of things of which people are so tired of. People want change desperately in the system which is so deep rotten that they blindly trusted Rijiju and were cheated! That hurt! and it hurts! And all those words of obligation and apology sound so shallow that without it would have done better.

Rijiju has to bear this albatross around his neck beyond his life.

One thing for Dorjee Khandu and the other political leaders to note is that the change has started. It may not be too apparent in the forthcoming elections but it won't be the same after five years. Therefore, be the right person, choose the right person. Children are growing up into thinking young men.
